Travel Information

Transportation

The nearest airport is Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP). The formal conference program runs from Friday morning (March 1) to Sunday noon (March 3). Participants should plan to arrive on Thursday, Feb. 28 and depart on March 3. 

Transportation to/from Airport - Northfield: 
You may rent a car, coordinate travel with other participants, or book one of these shuttles: 

- First Choice Shuttle, 866-444-9696, http://youarriveontime.com/  (recommended by Fairfield Suites; $15-70 each way depending on how many other passagers in your van)
- Northfield Metro Express, 888-748-9634, http://northfieldlines.com/metro-express/  ($15 each way; pre-set travel times and route; nearest stop to Fairfield Inn is either Downtown Northfield or Carleton College, both about 10 min walk to hotel)
- Northfield Lines, 888-670-8068, http://northfieldlines.com/our-services/airport-transfers/  (bookable service)

Conference Location

​The conference will be held at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, about 1 hour south of downtown Minneapolis, 45 minutes from Minneapolis International Airport. St. Olaf College is located about 1 mile from downtown Northfield. Participants should plan to stay at the conference hotel and/or make their own arrangements for travel to campus. We will provide daily shuttles to/from the hotel to campus for all registered participants. 


Lodging

Participants will stay at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in downtown Northfield, MN.  
Call the hotel directly at 507-366-5000 and give the rate code "DDGR" to get the special conference rate of $109.00/night + tax. We encourage participants to room with another participant. If you would like assistance identifying a roommate, please indicate that in the registration form (link provided via email). Please contact us if you need or would like a roommate. Breakfast on Friday and Saturday will be at the hotel and shuttles to St. Olaf campus will leave from this location. If, when you call the hotel, the conference room block is already full, please contact Amanda Randall immediately and we can request an additional block. If you prefer to book alternative accommodations, please note the location of St. Olaf campus 1.5 miles from downtown Northfield.

Meals

Meals are covered with conference registration with the exception of Saturday night. 
Saturday night dinner is on your own in Northfield. Please see the list of restaurants suggested by the Fairfield Inn:

Registration

Registration fees are $150 for full-time faculty; $50 for part-time/contingent faculty and graduate students. The organizers are seeking funding to offset travel and lodging costs for participants and funding will be awarded after the conference based on available funds and need.
